Silent, across the horizon

Dear Izzy, Max, and Kate,

Pastels. Water colors. Silver tipped reflections blend, swirl, and foam.

God writing poetry.

His voice thundering over the water.

Washing over my feet.

A solitary boat, silent across the horizon.

Deeper – where I’ve spent time trying to imagine.

My feet only ankle deep.

Poetry telling me that no matter how hard I try,

I can’t see the bottom

the valleys, caves, and mountains

beneath the surface.

No matter how hard I try.

How much I want to.

How much I want to see the future

and plan accordingly.

Poetry telling me that all I need is this –

a solitary boat, silent, across the horizon.

I love you,

– Daddy
